Access to Financial Services
The Access to Financial Services Practice provides strategic consulting services to a range of international, governmental and private-sector clients involved in the extension of financial services to low-income populations.

Our approach leverages off rigorous economic analysis, market insights derived from our extensive experience in Africa and the Middle East, and tried-and-tested experience in the field. Over the past 10 years, we have used this approach to deliver cutting-edge strategy and advisory services to clients ranging from private equity investors to The World Bank.

Our delivery is defined by our teamwork. Our teams of economists, development specialists and banking professionals combine economic analysis and strategy to deliver highly actionable recommendations.

Our value is demonstrated in the range of first-class financial services offered by our clients to a newly-enfranchised generation of MSMEs, farmers, professionals and individuals in Africa and the Middle East. Our focus on value addition means that customers of banks, MFIs, cooperatives and government finance institutions have benefited from specialised products, delivered through cutting-edge channels.

Our work involves developing a thorough understanding of the various aspects of the financial system in each country, and of the way in which these interact. This is then used as a platform to develop strategies that facilitate improved access to relevant financial products and services for low-income earners.

We have considerable experience in supporting and influencing regulatory reform in order to improve access to financial services. We have consulted throughout Southern Africa (including in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and several other SADC countries), Kenya and Uganda, as well as internationally in such countries as Pakistan, Indonesia, Mexico, India, The Philippines, and Brazil.
